It’s been a few weeks since I introduced my Novel in November project, a paranormal action thriller called Gun Witch (formerly titled Seraphim Black).  Sorry, got busy with work and the holidays.  Well, I’m happy to announce I actually finished this project nearly two weeks ago (right around the middle of the month), and have actually started in writing the sequel (because apparently I have writing energy to burn).

Last week our heroine described how all her life she’s dreamed of being killed by something called the Scaravae, and how in those dreams she sees the bodies of all of the versions of herself lying dead.  We continue right where we left off.

****

I can’t see my attackers.  They’re just shadows in my mind, flashes of fangs and moon pale skin, sometimes a ripple of bloodstained fur or wine dark eyes.  I feel their laughter more than hear it, taste the stink of their carrion breath.

I know who they are…or at least what they are.

I watch the girls that are me, writhing and dying beneath a warm spring sun.  Blood trickles, and their insides pool on the grass.

I look for the killers, those people of darkness called the Scaravae.

And I know that one day I will kill them all.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

There’s a lot of good action and stage setting in this snippet. It’s easy to see why you chose it.

Thanks Ed! Believe it or not, it was just the next 8 sentences in the story. =D

Thanks, Cara! Probably doesn’t say a lot of good things about me as a person, eh? ;D

Wow… I mean… WOW. It’s amazing how much of an image we were able to draw from the subtle descriptions, and the last line held an abundance of promise. Amazing, amazing writing!

Ooh, what a dark quest. It is funny how the fear of death, and particularly of images of brutality, will bring out the darkness in all of us. Looking forward to reading more! 🙂
