Welcome to Part 23 of Blood Angel Rising, presented to you 8 sentences at a time through Weekend Writing Warriors.  Check out the previous installments here.

This week, Frost finally gives Vincent what he came for.

Frost leaned in close and gave Vincent a repulsive smile, then sat back and pulled an old satchel out of his desk. The leather was marred and worn, thickly stained and smelled of meat.

“Classy,” Vincent said.

“You’re welcome,” Frost said. “I hope you understand how many people had to die for me to get this into your hands.”

“I’m sure you enjoyed acquiring it,” Vincent said with a cold smile, and he opened the satchel.

“Careful with that,” Frost said. Vincent looked inside, and saw that blood had welled up in the bottom of the bag, reeking of dead matter.

Check in next week for Part 24.  Thanks for dropping by, and have a great weekend!

  1. Ewww, but inagoodway…the story is so well written and the atmosphere certainly holds from snippet to snippet – I’m fully engaged in the story and wanting to know more! So, a great 8!

    • Thanks Veronica! =D

  2. I like how the “smelled of meat” part hits you in the face. Really grabbed my attention.

    • Thanks Eleri! I still think that sentence came out a little awkward, but overall I’m happy with it.

  3. Yuck. I wouldn’t want to do business with this Frost guy.

    • =D
